Quality Control Built Into the Line

QC does not sit at the end of the building waiting for problems. It sits at the incoming material bay, beside the press and at the packing table — measuring, recording and stopping a batch before a small drift becomes a claim.

Organisation

Who Checks What

The QC team reports separately from production — the person measuring a batch is not the person whose output is being measured.

1

Incoming Material

Paper weight, whiteness and core quality; ink batch and coating batch logged before the job is released to the press.

2

At the Press

First-off sheet compared with the approved sample; density and registration monitored through the run.

3

Before Packing

Random batch pulled after sorting: card count, cut accuracy, lamination and box fit checked before shrink wrap.

Tooling

What We Measure With

Colour
Colour management system plus densitometer readings against the approved sheet and Pantone reference.
Thickness
Thickness gauge on stock and finished cards to confirm the deck weight you approved.
Friction & Snap
Friction / snap tester to keep shuffle feel consistent between production runs.
Cutting
Card size, squareness and corner radius measured against the dieline; short or torn corners rejected.
Registration
Front-to-back alignment checked on the cut deck, where a border makes any offset obvious.
Visual
Hickeys, scumming, set-off and streaks checked on the press sheet and again on the finished deck.
Defect Handling

When Something Is Wrong

A defect that is measured can be fixed; a defect that is argued about cannot. The flow below applies to every batch.

01

Isolate the Batch

The affected sheets or decks are pulled out of the run and marked before anything else continues.

02

Find the Cause

Material, plate, press setting or finishing step — the cause is identified before a repair is attempted.

03

Rework or Re-run

Depending on the defect, the batch is re-finished, reprinted or replaced from stock; the schedule impact is reported.

04

Record It

The cause and the fix are logged against the job, so a reprint does not repeat the same mistake.

What Travels With Your Order
