Oracle Card Printing: Stock, Box and Guidebook Decisions

Oracle deck decisions that shape production: card count, stock, lamination, box depth and guidebook specs.

Key takeaways

  • Oracle decks vary in card count, and the count decides box depth and insert layout before artwork is finalised.
  • Soft-touch lamination changes both the feel and the unit cost compared with a standard matte film.
  • Guidebook language and page count affect paper, binding and packing — plan them together with the deck.

Oracle decks sit between tarot and affirmation cards. They are usually softer to handle, often paired with a guidebook, and frequently launched in smaller first runs.

Card size and stock

Most oracle decks use 63 × 88 mm or 70 × 110 mm, printed on 300–350gsm art paper with matte lamination. A slightly lighter stock keeps the deck comfortable for daily use, especially with 44–52 cards.

Box and guidebook pairing

A two-piece rigid box with an insert tray and a perfect-bound guidebook is the standard retail presentation. For lower-volume editions, a tuck box with a saddle-stitched booklet reduces tooling and unit cost.

Colour and special finishes

Oracle artwork is usually illustration-heavy, so colour accuracy matters. We check proofs on the final stock. Gold foil, spot UV and gilded edges can be added selectively — for example a foil title on the box only.

First runs and MOQ

Our standard MOQ is 500 decks. However, if your order is under 500 decks, our sales team will work with you to find the most cost-effective option, which is often enough for a first release or a crowdfunding edition.
